Gleneagle Sertoma Club

The local area Gleneagle Sertoma Club offers a program for relatives and friends of Air Force Academy Cadets. During graduation, Parent's Weekend, and other special Academy events, hotels and motels near the Academy are often fully booked at premium prices. The Gleneagle Sertoma Club offers a Bed and Breakfast service. Most members of the organization have agreed to open their homes by offering a room and continental breakfast to relatives and friends of cadets seeking convenient lodging at a reasonable price. In return for their hospitality, the participating members simply request a $55.00 donation be made to Gleneagle Sertoma Club for each room and night of occupancy. Occupancy is limited from two to five nights with a maximum of two persons to a room. Transportation To/From Academy

If the Academy shuttle service is not an option, I would strongly suggest the following service:

I know many of us have seen the postings off and on over the past few months for the personal transportation service. I even asked to have the information reposted when I realized my cadet was going to have need of this service. Now, after the experience, I felt it was important to pass on our thoughts about this option, especially as I see many with transportation needs for the Christmas break.

The Personal Services Center is owned and run by retired military personnel. Incidentally, this group is the delivery service for Zoomienet! My cadet took a trip a few weeks back to visit some friends and needed a ride to the Denver Airport; however, the time of day kept his sponsor family from helping out. It is a great service and we would use it again without any doubts. It is a little pricey if you are going to Denver, but I'm sure it is still cheaper than a taxi. The fare to Denver is $85.00 with a 20% surcharge to bring the total to around $100.00. The price is per trip so the more cadets, the lower the cost per person. The fare to COS is around $35.00 with a 20% surcharge.

The service picked him up outside of Sijan ECP point and delivered him directly to the airport. They use an Excursion and it is equipped with VCR/DVD player and movies. He had plenty of room and was able to work on homework during the ride. On his return, they were waiting for him in the taxi area and came as soon as he notified them he was waiting at the pickup area. (I think airport rules do not allow them to wait in the road ways in front of the pickup areas). It took only a minute or two and they were there picking him up and then he was delivered right outside Sijan.

I have no financial interest in this company; however, I do think this is a great service. The people were extremely pleasant and accommodating. They are very knowledgeable of the Academy and rules the cadets must follow.

Thank You!
